WEPL Ton-up Ellison leads Bristol to another victory over Potterne

BRISTOL made it two wins away to Potterne in six days as they closed out a 23-run victory against the WEPL Premier One champions, with Jack Ellison plundering a memorable unbeaten century.

Fresh from a notable 41-run success in the ECB National Club Championship, Louie Shaw’s side were again in fine all-round form in this league clash at The Grove as they moved up three places to sixth.

Bristol, who lost the toss, were battling at 101-5 in the 24th over when Ellison transformed his side’s prospects with an unbeaten 109 from just 78 balls at this compact ground, hammering 11 fours and seven sixes. Shaw weighed in with 65 and there was also an important 28 from winter recruit Shourya Raj as the visitors totalled 307-8 from their 50 overs.

Potterne’s reply got off to a useful start through openers Basil Akram (47) and captain Jake Goodwin (36). Josh Kelly (67) and Graham Wiseman (51) then helped manoeuvre the home side into a useful position, but both fell in quick succession to Shaw (3-48) while leg-spinner Raj (3-37 from 5.3 overs) tidied up the tail.
