'Nothing is worth taking a life for' Mum calls for end to bitter rivalry

Irene Muthemba with her family following the sentencing of Zacharia Talbert-Young and Paul Elijah Hayden earlier this week

Irene Muthemba directly addressed the young people who carry knives, and called on adults to ‘do everything’ to stop the tragedies of knife crime.

She spoke this week after the man who led the police investigation into her son Eddie Kinuthia’s murder and the attempted murder of another teen, said the streets would be safer with Zacharia Talbert-Young and Paul Elijah Hayden behind bars.

Talbert-Young received two life sentences - one for the murder of Eddie Kinuthia, a 19-year-old from St Pauls, and a second one for the attempted murder of another teenager in Easton six months later. Hayden also received a life sentence for that attempted murder, after he was acquitted of Eddie’s murder during the trial.
