WEPL Bristol boost bid to stay up with comfortable victory against Frocester

BRISTOL boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop with a comfortable seven-wicket home win over Frocester in WEPL Premier One.

The visitors won the toss but were soon on the back foot, slumping to 32-5. Although Ryan Kilmister dug in with a battling 43 from 72 balls, a total of 105 on the hottest day of the year never looked anywhere near enough, and so it proved.

Home skipper Louie Shaw grabbed 3-27 from nine overs and followed up with an unbeaten 25, while South African Jake Carstens hit 38 as Bristol moved up a place to seventh as victory was sealed with 20 overs to spare.

Next for Shaw's side is a home clash against Downend, who slipped into the bottom two after being humbled by 197 runs at home to Bedminster.

The visitors rattled up 382-9 before Downend, in reply, struggled to total 185.
