Winners taking pride in protecting local heritage

LAST month, the great and the good of Boston got together to celebrate some of the town’s most inspiring buildings.

The annual Pride of Boston award ceremony was held on Monday, May 19 by the Civic Group of the Boston Preservation Trust at Fydell House, where long-standing civic members Dudley Bryant and Dr. Martin Fairman presented certificates to those highly commended, as well as the runners-up and winner.

Those congratulated included a transport hub, a recently restored warehouse, a hotel, a jewellery shop and a sausage shop.

Every year, members of the Civic Group of Boston Preservation Trust nominate properties in and around the town centre and Boston’s Conservation Area.

One criteria they follow is that the buildings have to make an excellent first impression on visitors and the owners and custodians must preserve and protect our heritage for future generations.
