OFFICER RESET MOBILE TO DELETE ‘EVIDENCE’ MISCONDUCT PANEL TOLD

- ANNABAL BAGDI News Reporter

A POLICE officer “tried to wipe his phone” in a desperate bid to evade a probe into alleged criminal offences, a misconduct hearing was told.

PC Field was said to have attempted to “reset his mobile phone” when he was arrested in Birmingham, duping a fellow officer into thinking he was texting a relative.

It meant that contents on his phone could not be “retrieved” and “potential evidence of criminal offences” could not be “secured”.

Months later, he told officers who turned up at his home to arrest him a second time that he had “lost” his phone when it was actually under his bedding.

Field was released on bail but is said to have breached police conditions prohibiting him from contacting his ex-partner.
