The Excise Department is preparing to introduce six excise tax measures, focusing on environmental protection and public health.

Pornchai Thiraveja, director-general of the Excise Department, said the measures are designed to align with future international trade rules related to environmental issues and public health.

The first expands the tax base on goods that negatively affect the environment and prepares measures to cope with the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, the EU's landmark carbon import tariff.
