Champion cuts roll out from butchers

A BUTCHERS shop is again rolling out its annual haul of champion prime lambs for customers’ festive tables.

Croppers Family Butchers and Deli in Accrington is continuing its annual commitment of providing the best quality festive meat to customers, but this year the butchers will be having its first Christmas without Accrington’s longest-serving traditional independent family butcher George Cropper.

He was permanent fixture and ever-popular figure in his home town before he passed away from bladder cancer at his home in Rising Bridge on May 5.

George was just 15 when he first started in the trade, spending many years in Accrington Market, before relocating to the present shop in Blackburn Road seven years ago.

Fondly know as ‘the King of Croppers,’ this year would have been his remarkable 68th Christmas in Accrington.
