A PROPOSED new access road to a showground looks set to be vetoed by a local authority for the second time.
Richard Hanson from the Great Harwood Agricultural Society submitted a planning application to Hyndburn Council for the new track to its site off Harwood Lane in the township.
It would be used for the society’s annual summer show and a small number of other events. The scheme will be debated by Hyndburn Council’s planning committee on Wednesday, July 9 with an officer's report recommending refusal.
A similar proposal in February 2022 was rejected by the council but Mr Hanson's new application cites bad weather during last year’s event as special circumstances why the track in protected “green belt” countryside should be approved.
