A Home with History

|June 2025 - August 2025
While the design world rushes toward the next big thing, this couple cut through the noise and the clutter to reimagine what feels familiar.
When Claire and Shawn got the keys to their first home, they knew it wasn't a project they'd be handing off. With backgrounds in architecture, filmmaking, and production design, the duo behind Studio Luuseed decided to take the reins themselves.
“As creatives, we wanted to inject our personal touch into every corner of the home,” Claire says.
As an architect, Claire took charge of the overall spatial planning. Shawn, on the other hand, channelled his film industry experience into crafting the home's atmosphere. Both creatives, however, were aligned in their quiet refusal to chase trends, envisioning a space that pays homage to their personal histories.
“While we don't have a specific theme or style, we definitely draw inspiration from our memories and past experiences. If I were to describe the home in three words, I'd say it's warm, nostalgic, and familiar.”
The design journey begins at the threshold, where a seamless jade green terrazzo floor flows from the main door through the lower level. It took six days to cure and polish, but as a tribute to Shawn's grandmother's 1960s home, it was well worth the effort.
The living room was reconfigured by borrowing space from an adjacent bedroom, creating a more open layout that's further enhanced by natural light streaming through the full-height window.
