To create a multifunctional snug that fits into the decor scheme of the adjoining kitchen

INTERIOR DESIGN
Brenda Maclauchlan, BB Interior Design
“I met the clients just after their whole house had been flooded,” says BB Interior Design’s Brenda Maclauchlan. “They came to the studio to ask about paint colours for the hall – I ended up doing the whole house.”
This bright snug, which is attached to a preexisting kitchen that led the design scheme, was one of the first rooms she tackled. Throw in a comfy sofa and call it a day, right? Wrong. The clients needed this space to be both a snug and a dining room. “I asked what the priority was,” recalls Brenda, “and they said both. So, I racked my brains and drew a lot of floorplans. A gateleg table at the window? A round one in the corner next to the kitchen? Nothing was working.”
