BAFTA FILM AWARDS

NEW SUNDAY, 7PM, BBC1 AWARDS

Roll out the red carpet, grab the popcorn and prepare for a night of stars, as the crème de la crème of the silver screen gather at London's Royal Festival Hall this Sunday for the 78th BAFTA Film Awards.

Hosted by actor David Tennant (Doctor Who, Rivals) for the second year running, the glitzy ceremony, which will air on BBC1, will celebrate cinema's finest in categories such as Best Director and Costume Design, plus the new addition of Children's & Family Film.

Leading the nominations is papal political thriller Conclave, with 12 nods, including Best Film, Leading Actor for Ralph Fiennes and Supporting Actress for Isabella Rossellini.

French director Jacques Audiard's musical crime story Emilia Pérez is next up with 11 trophy chances - with Spanish star Karla Sofía Gascón up for Leading Actress and making history as the first transgender person to be nominated at the BAFTA Film Awards.

Period drama The Brutalist has nine nods, while comedy drama Anora and sci-fi adventure Dune: Part Two are each in the running for seven gongs - as is musical blockbuster Wicked, which sees Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande up for Leading Actress and Supporting Actress respectively.

Here, David, 53, tells us about the event that will also include musical performances by Jeff Goldblum and Take That...

So, are you thrilled to be hosting this ceremony for a second time, David?
