India is a land of diversity, with its varied landscapes, cultures, and traditions. While popular tourist destinations such as Agra and Goa attract millions of visitors every year for the Taj Mahal and the beaches and holiday spirit respectively, there are several lesser-known destinations that offer a different kind of travel experience. These offbeat locations are perfect for those who want to explore the country’s hidden gems and discover its rich cultural heritage.

If you’re looking to visit a less-explored and offbeat place in India, this list is for you.

1 SKIP OOTY, VISIT MASINAGUDI 

Masinagudi is a picturesque hill station in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiri district. The summer season, from March to June, is an ideal time to visit. During this time, there is a good chance of spotting a tiger as well. Part of the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, it is only one hour from the more popular hill station of Ooty, also known as Ootacamund or Udhagamandalam. Masinagudi has the same climatic setting but fewer tourists. Pykara Falls, Mudumalai National Park and Maravakandy Dam, which are popular attractions from Ooty and Coonoor, are located closer to Masinagudi. Wildlife photographers and enthusiasts will enjoy Mudumalai National Park, a haven for the region’s biodiversity in terms of animals and indigenous plants and trees.
