FBI agents bag Russian mole who infiltrated top university
GOTCHA!

A RUSSIAN operative cleverly burrowed himself into American society and used a graduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in an attempt to infiltrate the International Criminal Court in The Hague and collect vital intel for his homeland, a federal indictment charges.

The GRU mole, Sergey Vladimirovich Cherkasov, 37, admits being a petty thief in Russia before fleeing to Brazil and taking on a new identity and name, Victor Ferreira.

Cherkasov fabricated an elaborate backstory depicting how Ferreira was raised by caretakers after both of his parents died, including vivid details such as the permeating smell of fish where he grew up near a bridge in Rio de Janeiro and obsessing over a poster of Pamela Anderson hanging in a local mechanics shop.

The fictitious bio notes his classmates called him “gringo” due to his blond hair and accent, which he explained as being due to his German ancestry.
