New travel tech that will make your journey a breeze

Ease of Motion

RIGHT NOW, I'M in the planning stages for a two-month, six-country adventure across Asia and Europe. As you'd probably guess, I'm taking a close look at my current gear to figure out what goes, what stays and what needs replacing. My last trip of this caliber was in 2022, and there's some new tech I'm strongly considering adding to my kit that you might find interesting, as well. Some of these I've already purchased and packed.

Fujifilm X half

imageI'm starting with a camera, and not just any camera, but a small, point-and-shoot camera. You might be thinking, Didn't that market disappear once smartphones got popular? And you'd be right—mostly. There has been a resurgence in recent years of people getting used to the tiny smattering of new P&S cameras, expressly with the idea of not having to be on their phone the whole time. The X half has a retro design with a one-inch sensor (larger than most phones) and an interface that makes it easy to capture interesting photos and videos for social media with little to no editing.

Will I be getting one of these? Not quite. I did, however, buy a more expensive Fuji camera a few months ago. It's the X100VI and it's the most fun I've had with a camera in years. With it and the X half, the key is builtin film simulations that radically change how a photo looks, no Instagram filters or Photoshop required.
