Natural WONDERS

From otherworldly rock formations to glittering white sand coves, some of the world’s most extraordinary natural marvels are right here on our doorstep. Here are just a few of our finest…

Duncansby Stacks, Caithness, Highland

A couple of miles from the hubbub of John o’ Groats, the wild coastal landscape of Duncansby Head offers stupendous scenic drama. This is the UK’s most north-easterly point, home to a series of magnificent razor-like sandstone sea stacks that rise vertically from the waves, 200ft monuments standing defiant against the passage of time and relentless bashing from the North Sea.

GETTING THERE

A minor public road leads from John o’ Groats to Duncansby Head. Park at the lighthouse car park and take a short stroll across the headland. Alternatively, take the 3km coastal walk from John o’ Groats. The nearest railway station is Wick, then bus to John o’ Groats.

Dan-yr-Ogof Caves, Wales
