‘It’s a simple thing, but it could mean a lot’

Katie Beardsworth, 35, lives in Newcastle with her husband, 38, and son, Sam, aged four.

When I read that Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust had decided to adopt the term chestfeeding, instead of breastfeeding, I thought it was the right thing to do.

I was part of a support group called ‘Breast buddies’ and when the organiser changed the name to ‘Human milk buddies’, I thought it better represented everyone involved in feeding a child, whether they were male, female or transgender.
