I shed a tear
There is something happening in the Betway Premiership that cannot be ignored. Goalkeepers are having a serious battle for the honour of having the most clean sheets in a season and this can only be good for Bafana Bafana. Sipho Chaine, Brandon Petersen, Darren Keet, Darren Johnson, Renaldo Leaner, Ronwen Williams and Dumisani Msibi are shining brightly with clean sheets this season and it’s exciting. Johnson, in particular, is one of the surprise names on the list. He joined AmaZulu FC after being an understudy to Stanley Nwabali at Chippa United and he’s won the number one jersey ahead of Ghanaian international Richard Ofori at Usuthu. Soccer Laduma spoke to the former Cape Town Spurs goalkeeper about his journey to Usuthu, which had its challenges.

Sundowns were forced to rest players
We are in the second round of the season and things look exciting at both ends of the log table, in fact even in the middle as there is a lot to fight for. Every round of fixtures tells a story, and it looks like we are going to have an exciting end to the campaign. Let me wish our representatives in continental football, Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs, all the best in their final round of group stages matches this weekend.

It wasn't an easy journey
Newly-promoted Motsepe Foundation Championship side Gomora United will shift their attention to the league after getting knocked out of the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 by Mamelodi Sundowns. Gomora are currently sitting in 12th position on the log, just seven points ahead of the bottom-placed Black Leopards and 11 points behind the PSL relegation/promotion play-off spot. In the second part of the interview with Soccer Laduma's Siya Gijana, Macuphu opens up about this season so far, his journey in professional football and what needs to be done to uncover the next generation of strikers.

That was very painful
Golden Arrows attacker Siyanda \"Skhwishi\" Ndlovu has been one of the bright sparks in the Betway Premiership this season, playing a key role in Abafana Bes'thende's attacking play under head coach Manqoba Mngqithi. The energetic winger has shown steady growth in his game, earning praise from the technical team and catching the eye with his work rate, creativity and end product. In this interview with Soccer Laduma's Masebe Qina, Ndlovu reflects on his form, the influence of coach Mngqithi, the disappointment of missing out on a Bafana Bafana call-up, and how discipline, belief and hard work continue to shape his journey at the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.

Petersen's rebirth at Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs are keeping clean sheets for fun this season. After a paltry seven shutouts in 28 league matches last term, few could have foreseen the sort of defensive strength shown this season. Whilst tactics have played a part, as has the improved form of several defenders, one can't overlook goalkeeper Brandon Petersen's dramatic improvement. After 15 league fixtures, he has 11 clean sheets to his name and could potentially help Chiefs beat the 19 clean sheets kept in the 2014/15 season under Stuart Baxter. What do the stats tell us about Petersen's improved form? Should the goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi be getting more credit? And have the performances of \"Beeza\" ended the Chiefs careers of Fiacre Ntwari and Bruce Bvuma? Soccer Laduma investigates.

Still In Touch With... HUMPHREY MLWANE
Moroka Swallows dominated South African football in the late 1980s and early 1990s when they were financed by the late Louis Luyt, winning the 1989 Bob Save Super Bowl and other finals. But when Luyt left the club, players like Gregor Wille, Eric Ramasike, and Marcus Mphafudi also left. The club's financial struggles created opportunities for young players like Humphrey Mlwane, who joined from Daveyton Highlanders in 1993. Mlwane anchored the Swallows midfield until joining Kaizer Chiefs in 1996, ahead of the newly-launched Premier Soccer League. The midfielder was one of coach Paul Dolezar's favourite players and helped Amakhosi win the Rothmans Cup as well as the Bob Save Super Bowl. But in 2000, he was deemed surplus to requirements and joined Mother City before winding down his career at clubs like Umtata Bucks, African Wanderers and Avendale Athletico, before retiring at Winners Park in 2005.

Historically, South Africa has had players who have taken Belgian football by storm, from former Bafana Bafana defender Aaron Mokoena making his mark at Germinal Beerschot and KRC Genk, to Lance Davids at Lierse S.K., the late Anele Ngcongca at KRC Genk and Percy Tau at R.S.C. Anderlecht.
