Decoding Peel Heal

The latest beauty obsession doing the rounds of social media, especially among teenagers, is of videos of young girls lifting off a peel-off mask to reveal fresh, smooth, glowing skin underneath.

While peel-off masks may sound like a super solution to all your skin problems, there’s more to it than simply peeling off a mask from your face. Mumbai-based dermatologist Dr Bindu Sthalekar lays down guidelines to follow for a proper peel-off routine, and prescribes some DIY peel-offs too.

Peel It Off

Peel-off masks basically are a mixture of gelatin powder, kaolin, spectin and other products depending on the skin type, which when applied on the face hardens and converts into a rubber sheet.

When the mask is peeled off when dry, the skin feels soft, smooth and moisturised because the peel-off mask not only removes the dead skin layer but also the fine layer of hair on your face.
