The talking point for the automotive industry for many years now has been tail pipe emissions. Regulation after regulation has been slapped by governments around the world to try and contain the problem. But what does it mean? The term itself refers to the exhaust gases - by-products of combustion - that exit the tail pipes of vehicles, power plants and ships. Visible or invisible, these waste gases have been the talking point. Why? Because they are single-handedly responsible for the exponential rise in air pollution. To be precise, what harms us is the presence of toxic gases and carbon dioxide in the exhaust gas. Their infiltration into our environment is going on unhindered right now - and now the problem has come home, especially in cities like Delhi or the smogged-out ones in South East Asia.
