Confirmed: BMW G 310 R And G 310 GS To Launch Second-Half 2018 In India

BMW Motorrad says dealership network expansion with CBU range is current priority and 310s will come next. CKD models might be third stage of Indian range expansion.

BMW Motorrad told OVERDRIVE in Munich that they are at work homologating the G 310 R and the G 310 GS motorcycles for India. While the launch date is still not set, Dimitris Raptis, sales head, Asia, Pacific, China and South Africa said, “It would be safe to say that definitely the bike will be launched in the second half of 2018.” When asked which bike he meant, Raptis said, “Both!” implying the G 310 R as well as the G 310 GS. The 310s are a result of a joint project between TVS and BMW Motorrad where the platform spawns bikes for both brands, TVS manufactures them and each brand gets to brand, market and sell them individually in India. Now, the Akula 310 is set to be the first of the TVS’ - launch expect this month - while the two BMW 310s will come later as per Raptis. TVS manufactures the 310s at a new line at their Hosur factory in Tamil Nadu and BMW Motorrad is responsbile for quality control.
