Sri Lanka is celebrating three grand religious events – Kandy Esela Perahera (27th July – 8th Aug. – grandest night 7th Aug.), Kataragama Festival (24th July – 8th Aug. – Fire-walking 4th Aug.) and the feast of Our Lady of Madu (6th – 15th Aug.)

Kandy Esela Perahera is held in Kandy for 10 consecutive nights, a spectacle of grandeur, a procession of dancers, drummers and over a 100 caparisoned elephants participating. Kataragama Festival is held in the Hindu shrine at Kataragama, down south with esoteric rituals and religious passion. At the festival of Our Lady Of Madu, the miraculous Catholic shrine around Mannar, the atmosphere is of pure joy and piety.

Ceylon Tea celebrates its 150th anniversary in Sri Lanka and abroad and Zen Ceylon presents their teas with a tantalizing twist! Kitul treacle one ingredient of the islanders’ favourite dessert, curd and treacle, is featured in detail. Join Pete Martin on a delightful cycle ride to Galle, Dutch fortified walled city boasting of the17th cen. Dutch Fort, a World Heritage Site.
