Welcome to Sri Lanka in the most hallowed month of May. The Buddhists commemorate three important events, the birth, enlightenment and the passing away of the Buddha on Wesak full moon day. The Ehela trees laden with golden blossoms herald Wesak, which has been declared by the UNO as a Universal Spiritual Holiday.
An International world conference will be held on 12-14th May, attended by world Buddhist leaders and other international delegates on the theme: Buddhist Teachings for Social Justice and Sustainable World Peace. The venues will be the BMICH and the Dalada Maligawa, Kandy. A wave of Buddhist meditation is sweeping across areas in the U.S.A. as a part of soul therapy for mindfulness based stress reduction.
