There's now proof GLP-1 meds can prevent or reverse blood sugar issues for up to 99% of prediabetics

An astonishing fact about new meds helping millions lose weight: A study in the New England Journal of Medicine found tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro and Zepbound, can prevent nearly all high-risk patients from developing diabetes, beating a placebo by 10 times. "I spoke at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, and I joked they'll have to switch to 'Study of Prediabetes,'" says Louis J. Aronne, M.D., part of the research team. "There's not gonna be many people with diabetes left." Keep reading for the latest on these life-changing, lifesaving treatments.
Mounjaro and Zepbound along with Ozempic and Wegovy are part of a new wave of prescription injectable diabetes and obesity medications that mimic the hormone GLP-1, keeping levels up to 1,000 times higher than normal. This leads to radically reduced hunger and improved blood sugar control, says Dr. Aronne, director of the Comprehensive Weight Control Center at Weill Cornell Medicine. Among many benefits, rapid weight loss gets virtually all the hype. That may soon change.
Laurie shed 55 lbs
How did Laurie's appetite change on Zepbound? "I started at 2.5 mg, and I still felt it immediately," she says. While she was expecting less hunger, she was surprised to find her tastes changed for the better too. "I was never a big drinker, but I stopped wanting alcohol at all," she shares. And while she still has a sweet tooth, "I'm happy with a Yasso bar. I don't 'need' premium ice cream anymore." Laurie, who was gradually moved up to a 15-mg dose, is no longer pre-diabetic or inflamed and is down five sizes.

The Mary Tyler Moore SHOW
From That Girl in the 1960s to Ally McBeal in the 1990s to Sex and the City in the 2000s, television has long reflected the shifting image of independent women. Yet the true game-changer came in 1970, when The Mary Tyler Moore Show introduced Mary Richards—30, single, stylish and making her way in a newsroom full of men. Rather than being someone’s wife or daughter, she was the star, and she changed television forever. Join us for a look back at rare behind-the-scenes photos of the groundbreaking show as we celebrate its 55th anniversary.

Happy money, happy holidays
The holidays are here (yay!), and with them comes both joy and, let's be honest, stress. For many of us, the shopping lists, entertaining costs or the ache of an empty chair at the table can dim the sparkle of the season. If that's you, please accept my wishes that the days land lightly.
