Sydney's coolest foodie neighborhood may be slightly out of the way—but it's worth the trek.

ABOUT THREE MILES south of Sydney's Central Business District, Newtown isn't on many visitors' radars. But its dynamic culinary scene warrants a closer look and, as of this year, an overnight stay. In April, a local restaurant group, Paisano & Daughters, opened the guesthouse Australian Street Suites (doubles from $292), which sits above three of the area's most happening restaurants, making it all the easier for travelers to explore this part of the city. Here are four places to get a taste.
