SRI India brings the shift from prototyping to full-scale additive manufacturing

Since its founding in 2007, SRT has been a torchbearer for advancing additive manufacturing (AM) in India. SRT has built awareness, infrastructure and promoted adoption of AM across aerospace, healthcare, jewellery, and tooling to shape the ecosystem. In this interview, Nitin Chaudhari from SRT shares the journey of SRT and their vision for positioning India as a global hub for additive manufacturing.

What were the toughest challenges SRT faced in becoming pioneer in AM in India?

When we founded SRT in 2007, the biggest challenge was awareness. 3D printing was often dismissed as a prototyping gimmick rather than a serious manufacturing tool. Convincing industries to look beyond traditional methods required immense effort in education, demonstrations, and proof of ROI. Infrastructure was another hurdle as India lacked a skilled workforce and ecosystem to support advanced technologies. We addressed this by creating Customer Innovation Centres, where clients could experience the technology firsthand, receive training, and benefit from end-to-end support.

What are the key industries you are currently focusing on, and which ones do you see as the biggest growth drivers in the future?
