The ultimate meeting of precision and style

Even in the early sections of Ninja Gaiden 4, Team Ninja and PlatinumGames' intentions are made clear. Yakumo, the latest recruit to the Hayabusa clan, advances along the roof of a rattling freight train. Waves of enemies leap aboard to halt his progress.
He spins and sidesteps, countering attacks, severing limbs and finally executing foes with a deep, lunging katana stab. As arterial spray rains down, Yakumo holds a sleek, arching pose like an Olympic gymnast waiting for applause. But he's interrupted by a pair of futuristic gunships. Missiles streak through the air. Bullets make glowing orange holes in the sheet metal around Yakumo's feet. As the gunships fire a climactic fusillade, the eponymous ninja dives from the roof of the train, limbs splayed, the very image of an '80s martial-arts movie star. The logo is stamped across the screen. The tone has been established; it's stylised, kinetic and absurd, and in an age of battle royales and expansive open worlds, also bracingly naïve.
The series has always occupied a curious space in videogames. Simultaneously a relic of the arcade era and a harbinger of the modern action genre, rather than chasing trends, Ninja Gaiden's various developers have given it long life by gradually refining its unique identity. The original 1988 Ninja Gaiden was most noteworthy for its atmosphere, built on grainy interludes of vengeance and dusk that proved videogame violence could be stylised to an operatic degree. The series came into its own in 2004, when Dead Or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki reimagined Gaiden for Xbox; long before FromSoftware made uncompromising difficulty a selling point, 2004's यह कहानी Edge UK के November 2025 संस्करण से ली गई है।

Possessor(s)
After three rounds of layoffs this year and Hyper Light Breaker’s curtailed development in early access, a lot seems to rest for Heart Machine on this plucky Metroidvania side project. The studio has an obvious knack for conjuring up fascinating fantasy worlds, but since its compact debut, Hyper Light Drifter, it’s been less obvious whether it can manage projects of a larger scale. And perhaps, on that count, even the modest Possessor(s) isn’t quite modest enough — it feels as much a victim of the company’s production woes as a showcase for its creative talent.

Street Fighter 6
Superstition might suggest that even numbers are more auspicious for the series, but it's fairer to say that Capcom learned from the mistakes of Street Fighter V and launched a fighting game that doesn't just feel like a full package, but one that has foundations to build on in future updates.

The Outer Worlds 2
There's always a risk in imitating something regarded as a classic: if it offers a template for success, it could just as easily invite unfavourable comparison. Obsidian Entertainment's Fallout: New Vegas has gained that reputation in the 15 years since its release, and while the original The Outer Worlds, led by Fallout creators Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, referenced that series without aping it, the sequel zeroes in on New Vegas as its direct source of inspiration. This explains both why The Outer Worlds 2 is a success and why it can't quite stand tall as a creation with its own identity.
