Water bills 'will rise by 30% over next five years'

PEOPLE should prepare for water bills to rise 30% in the next five years, the man who led a commission into a review of the water system in England and Wales has said.

Ofwat, the water regulator, is to be scrapped and new, separate organisations set up in England and Wales.

The Welsh Government will have to decide if a new organisation for Wales will be created or if Natural Resources Wales (NRW) will take on the role.

The report has laid out the measures that the commission thinks are needed across England and Wales.

Sir Jon Cunliffe, who led the commission, was asked by the BBC yesterday how bills would reduce.
