Durgapur Ph.D student allegedly murdered in her apartment in Sweden, MEA informs family that body will be brought back to India

She was doing her Ph.D in integrated Medical Biology at Umea University at Umea in Sweden.

Roshni Das went to Sweden in 2018 for Ph.D and came to Durgapur once in 2019 after the death of her father.

She was the only child of her parents. Her father was a retired employee of the stateowned Durgapur Projects Limited.

The last time spoke to her mother over the phone was on 30 September, when she asked her to send Rs 1 lakh. Her mother deposited the money on 6 October from SBI Durgapur into her daughter’s Swedish bank account, but was unable to contact her since then. On 12 October the Sweden Embassy informed the ministry of external affairs about her death.
