LORENT Tolaj reckons last season at Port Vale was “probably my best season as a football player.”

Tolaj sets sights on more Valiants success after fine first campaign

The 23-year-old Swiss striker made the statement while talking to the club's media team as he discussed promotion to League One and his own individual contribution.

The ex-Aldershot Town striker scored 25 goals in all competitions for the Shots in the National League before switching to Vale Park for an undisclosed fee.

His first season at Vale ended in promotion but also tested his patience as he was left out of Darren Moore’s team for two months leading up to Christmas 2024 in a period which he had gone on record to say had left him extremely frustrated.

Moore eventually brought him back in and saw the benefit of playing Tolaj as an out-and-out centre-forward.

The club were rewarded as he finished up with 15 goals as the team’s top scorer.

Reflecting on last season he told the club: "Obviously the promotion was something crazy, I never experienced before.

“It was such a good feeling. Straight after the game against Wimbledon [won 2-0 to clinch promotion], everybody was so happy.
