Heartbreak for family as baby girl dies at just eight days old

A FAMILY have told of their devastation after the shock death of an eight-day-old baby.

Little Arabella Mayer tragically passed away just over a week after she was born on June 12 at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

First-time parents Lydia Pass and Ryan Mayer had been eagerly awaiting the birth of their little girl.

Lydia, 18, went home with her baby and believed everything was normal - until she discovered Arabella wasn’t breathing just five days later.

Lydia’s sister Abbey Carter, of Abbey Hulton, said: “She'd had a completely normal pregnancy. All her scans hadn't indicated that there was anything wrong.

“She had a bit of a traumatic birth but they let her out of hospital and said everything was okay.

“But she woke up the week after at around 5am and her baby wasn’t breathing and her skin had gone a light blue.
