Ghisolfi is named as new football chief at Sunderland

FOOTBALL: Sunderland have announced the appointment of Florent Ghisolfi as their new director of football.

The 40-year-old arrives on Wearside after leaving his role as sporting director of Roma last month and a statement from Sunderland confirmed he will begin on Thursday.
Ghisolfi had an 11-year playing career with Bastia and Reims and prior to his recent role at Roma, he was sporting director at Lens and Nice. He joins the Black Cats as they prepare for their return to Premier League football for the first time in eight years following their Sky Bet Championship play-off final victory in May.
