Dozens facing jobs threat as depot to close – 19 months after opening

New posts at Etruria 'never materialised'
TRANSPORT giant Stobart is shutting its Stoke-on-Trent depot - just 19 months after it opened.
The company moved to Etruria in 2024 with a pledge to safeguard the existing 150 jobs and create 75 positions after snapping up the old Ham Baker site next to the A500.
But workers say the new jobs never materialised and an assessment has now found the Etruria site is 'no longer sustainable'.
Stobart, which was bought by the Culina group in 2021, shut its Hanchurch base ahead of the Etruria move.
