The Sentinel
|June 17, 2025
SILVERDALE new-ball duo Matthew Deyzel and Toby Degg were inspirational form to bowl their side to an emphatic victory over Sandbach in NSSCL Division One.
The match at Underwood Road lasted just 21 overs in total as the Cheshire visitors suffered an afternoon to forget.
Sandbach were routed for just 35 as Deyzel helped himself to 6-18 and Degg weighed in with 4-11.
It took 8.2 overs for Silverdale to wrap up an eight-wicket win as Matthew Moore made an unbeaten 13.
Sean Manning took both of the wickets to fall to provide a rare positive for the visitors.
Leaders Cheadle seconds made it seven victories from eight outings with a four-wicket triumph at home against their Checkley counterparts.
Checkley posted 115 all out in the formative stages of the afternoon, in which Richard Williams top-scored with 33.
Jack Ashton (24no) and Peter Appelboam (14) were the other Checkley batsmen to make starts.
However, their hopes of amassing a larger total were dented by Craig Grimley's 3-17 and double strikes from Sam Akram and James Jackson.
Checkley, who sit bottom of the table, showed plenty of spirit in the field on the resumption.
Ashton took 3-24 and Ben Haslegrave added a double, but Cheadle still had enough to reach their target.
