Trump's leadership is a deliberate act of destruction

A COUNTRY that once projected itself as an epitome of liberal democracy has become a global joke. There are few things more bewildering than the fact that the American electorate - perhaps suffering from mass amnesia or sheer political nihilism - thought it wise to hand Donald Trump a second term in the White House.

The man, whose intellectual capacity rivals that of a tub of Flora, has once again graced the Oval Office with his unique brand of buffoonery, proving beyond any doubt that he possesses neither the knowledge nor the discipline required for governance.

His second presidency has been an uninterrupted exercise in chaos, marked by illiterate policymaking, reckless extremism, and the wholesale auctioning of executive power or if you wish, captured by his billionaire white supremacist friend, Elon Musk.

Trump's governing style resembles that of a child let loose in a toy store with a magic wand. He signs executive orders not because he understands their implications, however, to enjoy the spectacle of putting pen to paper.

Policy, in the conventional sense, is a foreign concept to Trump. Ask Trump about tax reform, healthcare, or foreign affairs, and you'll be met with a word salad of incoherence, punctuated by juvenile superlatives like "the greatest", "the best", or "so smart".
