Best of city's food and drink

Dan and Donna Lewis run the new Veeno which is taking part in its first Durham Restaurant Week

Veeno Italian Wine Bar and Kitchen opened in Durham just this month and is to be a new addition to the popular event which will back for its second outing of the year from Friday.

Following the success of Durham Restaurant Week at the start of the year, another week of cut-price deals ~ starting at just £5 - will be on offer to customers from October 3-10. And 37 restaurants are currently signed up to take part.

Among them, Veeno - which opened on The Riverwalk on September 17 - is keen to offer a first taste of its menu. Run by husband and wife Dan and Donna Lewis, who bought the franchise from restaurant founders Nino Caruso and Rodrigue Trouillet, it serves up dishes including artisan meats and cheeses imported from Italy; fresh pasta and pizza - alongside classic Italian cocktails and wines from Nino's family vineyard in western Sicily.
