£10,000 raised in honour of Sycamore Gap

A NORTHUMBERLAND pub has raised £10,000 to honour the Sycamore Gap tree's legacy two years on from its felling.

On the morning of September 28, 2023, the landmark tree was found on its side, having been illegally felled overnight by Adam Carruthers and Daniel Graham.

In July this year, the pair were jailed for more than four years for chopping it down. Following the incident, there was an outcry of grief which was felt far beyond Northumberland, with the tree considered a symbol of the county.
