'Tables turned' on litterbugs as town cleans up its act

RESIDENTS say “the tables have turned” following a dogged campaign against litter, which has helped restore some local pride.

The Love where you Live campaign began in Heckmondwike in the summer and included dog owners pledging to pick up after their pets

This summer, the Love Where You Live: Heckmondwike initiative from Keep Britain Tidy kicked off.

Its aim, to better connect local people with their community and encourage them to play a part in making their environment cleaner, greener and more cared for.

The scheme began with “Bin It For Good” which saw local causes rewarded for responsible litter disposal.
