Long wait over as choir finally hits high notes

A CHOIR waited six months to be given exclusive access to sing inside one of the tallest structure in Europe - the Emley Moor transmitting station in West Yorkshire.

Of all the rehearsal spaces a choir would want to use, you would never think that one of them would be a 1084ft concrete telecommunications tower - which is higher than the Eiffel Tower - but that is what devoted member Kate Smitherham wanted.

After Kate bought a house near the Emley Moor tower in Huddersfield five years ago, Kate has always wanted to go inside.

But her dreams were dashed when she was told that, aside from workers, no one was allowed in it.

But little did she know that a conversation with a friend would lead to the opportunity she had dreamt of and she would be able to bring along her choir - HD8 Voices.
