Village play cafe proves an ideal business model

A PLAY cafe which allows children to have fun while their parents can grab a coffee has opened on Ebrington Street, expanding a successful business which started in Liskeard.
Robyn and Alex Isted have opened a second branch of Teddy's Village in a unit not far from Charles Cross, which was previous a hairdressing salon.
The cafe has roleplay areas for children aged 0-6 years old, including a miniature village in which they can explore while parents can watch in comfort.
The two-storey building also boasts a small soft play upstairs, while there is a special area for babies and dedicated pushchair and pram parking.
Robyn Isted said many of the customers at their cafe in Liskeard come from Plymouth and plenty told them the city needed something similar.
She told The Herald: "In Liskeard we have been open since last September, so just over a year now, and a lot of our customers were from Plymouth.
"Alex grew up in Liskeard and I grew up in Looe, and every time we went out in Plymouth we were seeing people we knew from Looe and Liskeard, and we thought there must be a gap in the market for it down there and there was.
