Uni to offer new apprenticeships

PLYMOUTH Marjon University is eyeing an “ambitious push” for apprenticeships, after it was praised by Ofsted.

It offers university-level course work for apprentices who live in the South West. The apprenticeships were launched in 2023 to help to boost the skilled workforce in hospitals and healthcare facilities, community services and educational organisations across the region.

The first apprentices have studied to become assistant practitioners, nursing associates, registered nurses and youth workers.

Apprenticeships are funded by the Government and employers, and apprentices typically study for one day a week. A total of 150 students are currently undertaking apprenticeships at Marjon, using a blended learning model of face-to-face sessions and online learning.
