FIRMS from in and around Plymouth were among the winners as the best of Devon's vibrant food and drink scene were celebrated in a major awards event.

The 14th annual Food Drink Devon Awards was held at Exeter's Sandy Park on Monday, October 6, shining a spotlight on the county's finest culinary fare, from award-winning producers and passionate hospitality businesses to specialist retailers.
Among those firms taking accolades back down the A38 was Yield Bakery from Plympton, who collected a Platinum Produce Award for their Almond Slice and Bread Pudding, Stone’s Honey from Ivybridge for their Devon Runny Honey and Devon Soft Set, and Langage Farm for their Clotted Cream Vanilla Ice Cream and Devonshire Clotted Cream.
Mothecombe-based Hattiers Rum also collected a Platinum award, won by firms who submitted products for blind-tasting by independent judges, for their Egremont Premium Reserve Rum and Eminence Blended Aged White Rum.

It's time to reconsider a SW tourist tax
HOLIDAYS can be taxing - and not just the airport delays, the eyewatering cost of a bottle of water in the departure lounge, or the risk that a brochure image of a beautiful hotel turns out, on arrival, to be a half-built ruin.
