School picked to lead attendance project

A PLYMOUTH primary school has been selected to lead a government-backed programme which aims to tackle poor attendance and improve behaviour across classrooms across the UK.

Marine Academy Primary in Plymouth, which is part of the Ted Wragg Trust, has been named one of the Department for Education's new Behaviour and Attendance Hubs.

It joins just 21 schools across the country in the first wave of the initiative, including Exeter's St James School, which also part of the same trust.

Both schools were recognised for their strong school cultures and track record in supporting pupils to thrive. As part of their new role, the schools will deliver tailored one-to-one support for senior leaders in other schools, run open days and share best practice at regional events.
