Nature guide focuses on our common wildlife

A WESTCOUNTRY nature enthusiast and writer has had his latest book published by Bloomsbury featuring a wealth of weird and wonderful British wildlife.

Charlie Elder, who lives on Dartmoor, has previously written books on rare and threatened species in the UK. However, his latest publication is about the common and wide spread animals one is most likely to come across - whether in the back garden or wider countryside.

The RSPB Everyday Guide to British Wildlife spans everything from mammals, reptiles and amphibians to insects, fish and coastal life.

The illustrated guide, which went on sale on Thursday May 22, aims to help people put a name to myriad species and learn more about their lives.

Charlie said: "The starting point when we encounter an unfamiliar creature is, basically: What is it? However, answering that simple question can be tricky.

"The Everyday Guide to British Wildlife aims to help by narrowing down options, and by dispensing with the restraints of strict taxonomy in order to make it easier for readers to find what they are looking for.
