Former city fire engine is up for auction

A FORMER City of Plymouth fire engine which saw service five decades ago is set to be auctioned off today.

The auction, held by Spicers Auctioneers based in Goole which is around 20 miles north east of Doncaster, was due to take place from 1pm this afternoon.

The notes on Lot 274 - a 1967 Leyland Beaver Fire Engine - explains that the starting bid will be £2,000 with an estimate of it being sold for between £4,000 and £5,000.

According to the information offered by the auctioneers the owner had become too elderly to drive it and as a result of a medical condition it had to be sold to a vendor as the owner’s Class 2 licence had been revoked.
