A West End dream come true

FORTY students from the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts Plymouth have appeared on stage on the West End in a new musical written specially for pupils of the performance school.

Performers as young as six got their first taste of experiencing the West End stage, while some as young as nine were making their second West End appearance.

Together they performed in Across The Line, a musical written specially for PQA students across the country by Will Brenton.

The show told the story of The Voyagers, a group of brave adventurers who board a mysterious tube train in Tunneltown, accepting Johnny Toxic and the Diablos' challenge to find three treasures that would win them their freedom.

The cleverly structured musical involved three scenes per act, with PQA Plymouth performing one scene in each act alongside students from Portsmouth and Solihull.

When woven together, these pieces formed one complete, seamless musical that the audience would experience as a single, flowing story.

Sam Pomeroy, Principal of PQA Plymouth, and his team have been preparing the students for months.

Sam said the performance itself was everything he had hoped for.
