X Factor star's son on his own musical journey

HIS dad was an X Factor finalist 20 years ago - but talented Luke Pemberton's own musical journey is starting with an ambitious self-penned production.

In 2005, as part of Teesside-based duo Journey South, Luke's dad Carl Pemberton, along with brother Andy, reached finals night of The X Factor, finishing third behind Andy Abraham and winner Shayne Ward.

Twenty years on and now it's Carl's son Luke's turn to shine, with a historical musical he's written - and will perform in - to be staged at Yarm's Princess Alexandra Auditorium on August 26 and 27. What began as three songs and three scenes has grown into a full-scale original musical, The Good of Sarajevo, which tells the gripping story of Gavrilo Princip - the teenager whose assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo in 1914 ignited the First World War.
