Seven teenagers and 18-year-old are charged after alleged disorder

SEVEN teenagers and an 18-year-old man have been charged with a range of offences, including aggravated burglary and possession of an offensive weapon, following a violent disturbance in Stockton.

Following the incident on Tuesday night, Cleveland Police imposed stop and search powers in the area as part of the investigation.

Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, officers in Stockton alongside armed response received reports of a disturbance on Tilery Way involving numerous teenage boys reported to be armed with machetes. There were also reports of a vehicle being damaged and set on fire. The seven teenage boys and an 18-year-old man were arrested on Wednesday.

Following questioning they have since been charged and remanded in custody. All were due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday.
