Mandaue government aims to rehabilitate slaughterhouse
The Freeman
|August 31, 2025
The Mandaue City Veterinary Office has recommended the temporary closure of the city’s slaughterhouse to allow for rehabilitation.
-
City Veterinarian Dr. Karen Merilles, in an interview, said the decision was aligned with the directive of Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano, who emphasized the importance of ensuring the integrity of the city's meat supply.
“Gi-propose ang renovation kay guba na gyud siya and for the safety sad sa personnel, so have to do that,” said Merilles.
She explained that while the rehabilitation plan is being prepared, the slaughterhouse continues to operate to cater to existing customers.
