A POPULAR coffee shop boasting 'the fattest doughnuts in the toon' has announced it will be closing its doors for good this weekend after what it calls an 'unforgettable' journey.
The Big Fat Donut Co at the Gateshead end of the High Level Bridge - a handy stop-off for those crossing to and from to Newcastle which is just a few minutes' walk away - is to cease trading tomorrow after three years of business.
The news of its closure - due to ongoing challenges facing small companies - comes just weeks after that of its neighbour The Rested Ghoul.
