Christmas spirit seen in actions of shop owner

A SHOP owner chose to stay open on Christmas Day to help those in need.

Free loaves of bread and clothing are handed out to those in need by Sheraz Awan
Sheraz Awan has run Westerhope Convenience Store in Westerhope, Newcastle, for the past 25 years.
The 48-year-old came to the shop on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to hand out free loaves of bread as well as bags of clothing. He planned to do the same on Boxing Day.
He said: "Who else is going to help on Christmas Day? The Government-funded food banks are closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. I do it every day anyway.
